Introduction to Jewellery Making (#428)
The Course:
We would like to give you an idea of the skills learnt during the 'Beginners Week'. Day 1. The course commences with a short 'Health and Safety' lecture. A demonstration of piercing (cutting the metal) and finishing to a high standard follows. Students complete a design for a pendant or keyring, this they cut out using guilding metal provided. A demonstration of soldering is given. Students then solder and finish their work. Day 2. Students are given silver for production of a ring, together with a cabochon stone. A lecture is given on ring making. Students make their rings. A lecture is given for bezel making (a bezel is the setting to hold the stone) and preparing their ring for the bezel. Lecturer demonstrates stone setting. Students complete their rings by setting their stones. For more information on Jewellery Making and other related courses please visit our website.
