MOSAIC COURSES (#540)
There are a number of projects involving mosaic underway in the garden here, some quite ambitious, including a mosaic circle of over 5 square meters, using traditional unglazed ceramic tiles, and which is still in its early stages. Others combine this material with less conventional material such as granite, and even ordinary garden stone. We also have a good range of mosaic design source books for inspiration, which offer plenty of different projects involving mosaic for both interiors and exteriors.
Participants may choose to work with the direct method, fixing mosaic tiles onto a flat surface such as a tile, a mirror surround, a sheet of plywood, or a three dimensional object such as sculpture or a ceramic plant pot. Alternatively, you can choose to work with the indirect method, fixing tiles onto brown paper for later casting into cement or fixing onto a suitable surface back home. If you have at home any such objects that seem to be 'crying out' for a mosaic, (a round concrete garden table for example) and which are not portable, make sure to note their dimensions before leaving home! A range of mosaic tools and a complete range of unglazed ceramic tiles are available COURSE FEES (inclusive of materials, accommodation and full board.) Accommodation………………2 day course……………………3 day course White Room.................................... €360.............................................. €545 Luxury Red Room…………………€410...............................................€610....
