This life drawing/painting workshop is inspired by Arthur Boyd’s figures in the landscape, eg the Diana and Actaeon series 1962 or The Princess of Shoalwater 1978.

People interested in this workshop are encouraged to seek out a myth/ story/ fairytale that may add a layer of meaning to their artwork, or simply have fun interpreting the figure in the landscape, in the media of their choice.

A nude or semi draped model will be set up in a rainforest setting for artists to draw or paint. Artist/teacher Christine Eyres will guide artists through decisions about such things as composition, tonal arrangement and colour selection.

She is experienced in the technicalities of handling acrylics, oils and pastels, charcoal and pencil. Christine says that she has never mastered the use of water colour, and although she welcomes people of this discipline, warns that her ability to help with this medium is limited.

Aims of this life drawing and painting workshop are to -

1. take students through a series of short exercises to see gesture of the figure.

2. use the landscape as an aid to achieving accuracy, as well as narrative background.

3. help students use their own reference material as well as the figure in the landscape to compose an art work. Students will be helped individually to achieve their goals.

Workshop fee includes basic drawing materials only. Students are encouraged to bring their preferred paints and brushes, drawing board, paper and canvases.
